Some months back I posted some pictures for a modular grand support using black iron pipe. Here's another use for more mileage from some of the same parts.

I like having an extra work area so I don't have to bend over for parts and tools. It's also nice to keep the keybed of a grand clear during regulating, voicing, damper replacement, restringing, etc.

By cutting a small tabletop from scrap plywood, installing a floor flange on the bottom surface, attaching another floor flange to the top of my jack-in-the-box, and using 1 or more pieces from my leg stand I have a portable, sturdy, work surface that costs next to nothing, takes up little space, and is easily adapted to different tasks. Adjust height by using different lengths of pipe (10" & 12" are already in my leg stand.)

    Stay well!

    Hey Allan -
    Pretty nice.  Couple of things:
what do you mean by "leg stand"?
is that a keyboard stand in picture 3?  can you cover that with wood for additional space, or am I misunderstanding the photo?
Otherwise, maybe you can upgrade your design to make the height adjustable using the on-board jack.  A perfect example of hours of time and effort for little more than our amusement.
    Thanks
