Hello All,
A follow up to this thread. I ordered "The Jazz Girl, the Piano, and the Dedicated Tuner" and read though it. Unfortunately I have to give it a considerably less-stellar review than was in the PTJ.
My main problem with the book was that it was
extremely verbose. What I could have communicated in three paragraphs took the author at least six if not ten. I realize that this is just my personality and that I tend towards less words than more. Others will disagree, and that's fine; but for me, way, way too wordy.
My other issue with it was the mention of the sensual culture of France more than once, including reference to an "erotic fairytale". This is a cultural difference for sure. In France open discussion of such things may be acceptable, but to give it out to American clients... let's just say I don't feel I should risk my reputation in doing so.
Overall, disappointing. I lost the message in the plethora of words. Too bad I couldn't give it as good a review as in the Journal.

Hello All,
I'm wondering what you use for promotional give-away books for clients? Ideally I would like to be able to give out a book that does talk about piano maintenance, but is also focused on music, etc. I don't want to give out a "this is what your piano needs" manual.
I'm considering Franz Mohr's "My Life With the Great Pianists." (Which I thoroughly enjoyed.) I just ordered "The Jazz Girl, the Piano, and the Dedicated Tuner" that was reviewed in the Feb. 2019 Journal for previewing. That might be another option.
Anyone know of any other options?
Also, price per book is not really a consideration for me because this wouldn't be for every new client that comes along, just certain ones; or those who hire me for a big job, etc.
Thanks in advance,
