... this is a piano tech forum. But with all you musical types being connected to so many other places maybe one of you could direct me to a place that appraises saxiphones or perhaps y'all know how to sell one effectively. Tenor sax Selmer "Henri Selmer 80 Super Action Serial N449915" The owner is my sister's SO (signifigant other) who is slowly passing into a different dimension. Some call it "dimensia".

There must be a store near you that sells band instruments.
Stop over and talk to them or the repair person. Maybe
they'd have a buyer or person interested in that make/model.

A lot depends on the condition just like pianos.

Does it need to be overhauled, new pads has has dents?

    2. google the make and model with "for sale"  and see what the market is like.

    3. if all else files search All of Craigslist and see if that make/model is being
sold elsewhere and for what price.

    4. Check Ebay...

There seem to be quite a few Selmer 80 Super Action saxes listed currently.
But what do they usually end of selling for?

There's a lot of info using Google search like:

Hey, Larry.  You will notice the Selmer tenors listed in the link Richard Adkins are mostly listed as Mark VI.  I used to sell band instruments way back in history, and that is the one that the pros who know want.  They were known to be the best responding horns, and they generally didn't care what cosmetic shape they were in (although the better the shape, obviously the higher the value, but the pros generally didn't care about that.).  At the time I was selling, Selmer had the Mark VII, and they were not very well liked by those in the know.  I saw this, and just thought I would chip in.    Clark

Quick response for what it's worth:

IF you use Facebook, you can check out these three groups. The first is band instrument repair techs who work on everything including sax's, but they are more exclusive. The second is sax tech's only & they are more inclusive. The third is about saxophones in general, and they discuss appraisals and sales. Good luck.
