    Hi gang,

I wonder if any of you have experience with the Roland C-30, you can see it here: https://www.roland.com/us/products/c-30/

It has a couple of harpsichord sounds, plus a celesta, fortepiano, and maybe something else.  Some people here are interested in it and it looks like fun, but I don't know if it makes sense to get one given that we have a couple of harpsichords and a celesta or two.

    Thanks,
    Zeno Wood

A friend who conducts a local community orchestra uses one and, although they would prefer the real thing, are pleased with the sound and performance. They did purchase a good quality amp for it. Not sure exactly what. I could find out if you would like to know. When I worked for the local Kawai/Steinway dealer they also sold these. Never big volume sales but they were popular in small churches in our Minnesota winters!

We have one here at U of Oregon.  The Oregon Bach Festival uses it for score reading and rehearsals when we can't get a strung instrument for them.  It has proven to be reliable and reasonably accurate in touch and sound.  I agree with the above that a good amp would be an enhancement as the speakers are a bit light.  The alternate tunings are quite accurate plus it has the attractive case so looks nice and professional.
