I've never tried vinegar on wax. I do use it for other cleaning jobs. Years ago when I worked in a custom photo lab we used acetic acid for cleaning and degreasing metal surfaces before mounting prints on them. Wear gloves and ventilate if you use strong stuff but it worked very well.
