Hello Robert and all,
one of the things that we'll cover tomorrow evening (Thursday) in Simple Solutions Live is a portable go-bar deck for clamping bridge caps, soundboards, ribs, etc. in places where you can't use another clamp or where you don't want to, or can't , insert a screw. It's a relatively simple and low-cost system to have in your stable of ideas.
See Bill Davis' email to sign up. There's no cost, it's a member benefit, and I'm not selling tools, parts, or subscriptions.
Hope to see everyone there!
Allan

The origin is apparently a French word, goberge.
Here's a paper about the history of its use, which is where I found that tidbit.

Subject: Origin of the name "G-O bar"
Hello. I've always been interested in the origins of words and I'm wondering if anyone knows what the name "G-O bar" comes from. I've heard once that is comes from what is said when the project is ready to clamp, like "It's a go". But I'm wondering if it's that or it it's an acronym for two words because it's so often hyphenated.
Thanks.
Robert
