John    In 2016 I had to research  that same model Kawai grand, same era. My client had the misfortune of having her grand  flooded with water coming through the ceiling above the piano.  She needed to know the replacement value of the piano.  After combing through sources, I came up with $12000.  The insurance company paid the $12K.  I had taken a lot of photos of the damage so she could enclose prints with my appraised value.   My guess is that she may have paid a little more because I considered some depreciation.  Hope this helps.

The piano was 37 years old in 2016. RPT Stephen Brady's depreciation schedule (published in Larry Fine's "The Piano Book", 4th Edition, p.203) shows the depreciation from the new value of a piano in the age range 35-70 years, for three degrees of wear: worse = 25%, average = 30%, and better = 33%.

That was before the piano got rained on. $12K is a nice settlement.
