I'm sure many readers here either knew the late John Travis or know of him (the first PTG co-president), and might be aware of the Grabau-Travis Tuning Method that he developed. John taught it as part of his course that I took. It is this approach to aural tuning that I have always used: spot-on accuracy, easy to understand and learn, not tied to counting beats, lots of interval tests available for use, and very good marks compared to alternative approaches whether aural or ETD.
I am forever in debt to John, and I want to try to give back to our piano technician community. I have put together some charts based on using John's method, titled "Learning Aural Piano Tuning," that includes nine audio demonstrations/exercises to support the reader wishing to learn. You can get the charts off my Web site at:

I am looking for your feedback to improve the message in the charts. Not meaning to enter the complex discussion space on aural versus ETD, but let's just say I believe aural can be an easy learn and have a lot of payback. If you want some assistance to learn, email me and we'll organize a Zoom session or two. I would also like to hear from anyone with questions about the Travis approach or who would like to have further discussion about it.
