Can someone recommend a source for acoustic foam that I need to muffle a grand piano.. in the past I purchased 3 inch foam in a 54"x54" sheet from Marfkertek, but I contacted them today and they no longer have the product.

    Thanks,

    David

A fabric store might have cushion foam.

Foambymail.com.  Inexpensive.  If you want the best, use Auralex.  Better absorption because it's heavier.  And more $$$.  All foams are not the same.  If you really need sound proofing, use mass-loaded vinyl.  Much heavier and will block sound.  It's used to deaden outside sound in cars.  Foams absorb some sound, but mostly high frequency.  Cushion foam will not do very much, and actually isn't that cheap.

Well if you're talking sound proofing: acoustiblok.com or sound deadening material from a marine supply.

I recently ordered some sound absorbing bean bags from Flugelbauer . Trying to reduce the volume on an old PDS 128 player unit which does not have the volume level controls of the new wireless Prodigy Unit. Tried some acoustic foam panels first under the piano then inside between the struts. The foam did nothing. I was thinking on making something like a string cover made with one large piece and trying it in or under the piano. Hoping the bean bags arrive soon . Many homes here have high ceilings wood or time floors, lots of windows and they amplify the piano. I am hoping the bags will help because I have many customers who want lower volumes on their players or whose piano is just too loud. Room acoustics are a real challenge
