    Hi All,

For anyone interested, I do a YouTube livestream Q&A the last Thursday of every month at 8AM & 8PM EST. It's free; no strings.

As of this posting, the next one is tomorrow, 7/31/25.

I create thumbnails that list the main topics in each video, then I add time markers for each topic in the video description. (I don't have time to edit them out separately.)

This link SHOULD take you to where the livestream will show up, and if you subscribe and turn on notifications, you should get a direct link to the livestream.

    https://www.youtube.com/@PianoTechMaggie/streams

It also holds all the old livestreams for browsing.

If I eventually learn to use "OBS" of some such streaming program, I would love to stream a Zoom Q&A, as well as have occasional guests and windows in windows to better demonstrate things. I've been too busy to have learned how to do the bells & whistles yet. Basic streaming will have to do for now. If anyone would like to volunteer to help me with that, I would love the help. I'm not offering to pay because I'm already volunteering my time to do this for free. I will happily acknowledge you in my video, but that's it. Thanks.

    Happy Tuning!
    Maggie

    Maggie,

Would love to attend. When you say turn on notifications, are you referring notifications settings in my phone? Or somehow within YouTube?

Also, how do we interact with you in real time? I've never done this before so this would be my first time.

    Hi Peter!

Once you have subscribed to a YouTube channel, you can "turn on all notifications" by clicking on the little bell icon near the subscribe button. There are 3 options. To get the livestream, I think you need to turn them all on.

Unfortunately, until I get "OBS" working, we are limited to people asking questions in the comments. I would prefer to have us all talk, but text chat will have to do for now. It's actually been working quite well, considering. I read the typed questions out loud then answer them. A few times someone asked a tech question I wasn't 100% comfortable answering, and other people chimed in the text with answers. I was able to read the answers and confirm that I believed they were correct. It was fun!

One thing: Do say "hi" or something small in a comment early on so I know you're there. I can't see who is watching so have no idea unless they make some kind of comment. ;-)

    Hope to see you!

    Maggie

How are you going to do a piano tuning livestream with no strings?

I enjoyed your tuning livestream tonight greatly.  I had the dubious experience of tuning a Kimball console in a reverberant church this am. Great amount

    of inharmonicity.

    Maggie,

I too enjoyed the morning program. In particular the discussion about 5th tuning at either the 3:2 and/or the 6:4 as this has been an issue for me for quite a while since these two shared partials never agree and sometimes quite vehemently disagree...what to do, and how to use this disagreement to my advantage was interesting. Im sure this will get more traction in future episodes.

    Thx Maggie!

Parker - Ha! Surely reverberation exacerbates inharmonicity. LOL! (JK)

Peter - It helps me a lot to compare these measurements, particularly in the low tenor and across the break. They give good information. Glad you can use this stuff!

So glad you both came and enjoyed it. Hopefully I can eventually get Zoom to work, but we'll see. Thanks for coming!
