               Ouch! 

           OK, well this was about what I was making when I resigned my State University job almost 15 years ago, but that was pre-Covid when fast food resturants were still paying minimum wage. Now my 19 year old son is making more than that ($22 per hour) working at UPS, and they great benefits there also. He just walked in and was hired, no experience required.

    The compensation for this publicly posted job is indeed very low but not what I would call representative of the group.

    Many FTE CAUT positions come with a benefits package equivalent to 20% of base pay. That's a BIG deal.

    A good time to negotiate a higher wage is before you accept a position.

    If you're interested in a CAUT position, make a habit to read every job listing, evaluate the market, speak to your colleagues, and continue to advocate for a wage that represents your value to the institution. 

     2 cents from a happy CAUT.
