The serial number indicates 1927 as the year it was made. I suggest you contact Greg Bennett at the Chickering Foundation and Bill Schull on the West Coast. There is a table and good discussion about scales on the Chickering Foundation web site. The table goes as far as 1900 and for sure other scales like the 121 Quarter Grand where made. Pictures of the plate stampings would help. For the 121 stamping is embossed in the tuning pin webbing

Subject: Chickering grands
I'm looking for some info on a Chickering grand. The serial number is 144221E. I haven't looked at it yet, but the owner said the plate number is 145. I don't see a scale 145 in Travis' Guide to Stringing book. Ther is a scale for "E". I'm considering getting for rebuilding. Anyone familiar with this model?
Thanks
