    Hello all,

I frequently find broken damper rod stabilizer springs in cheap consoles from the 60s to 80s. Has anyone had luck replacing these, either by finding a specialist to do it or remanufacturing it yourself?

I have a picture of an intact spring and a picture of the action showing the broken stem of a broken spring (also showing a broken bracket).

A lot of American verticals with a bass sustain had something like that where the bass damper lift rod over-leaves the treble one. If memory serves they were made with an oversized flange and a modified damper lever with a heavy wire spring that clamps down under the flange screw. You might be able to cadge one from an old defunct piano, or take a good look and it and reproduce it.
