I am currently finishing action part replacement on an 1896 Steinway Style S Upright Piano.

It features the hook style sostenuto system where there is an actual hook attached to the damper levers. I developed a way to move the old hooks to the new damper levers so they are in almost exactly the same place as they were originally.

My question involves the adjustment (wire bending) of these hooks so that they work as they should. It seems to be pretty narrow window in which to get proper function. I would be curious to hear of other experiences.

    Thank you.

Keep working in ever closer circles.  It takes a while, but keep closing in on it.  I did one of those,  made my own new "hooks" out of wire.  It seemed to take forever to get right.  Keep at it!
