Hello.  Thanks to a generous research grant from the PTG Foundation I've been shooting some high speed (slow motion) piano videos.  You can see some of what I've done so far on the PTG's Education Hub here:

    https://my.ptg.org/ptgeducation/resources/hsvideo

I'd like to get more people involved.  If you have ideas for other interesting stuff to shoot, please let me know.  And if you would like to participate in planning, shooting, and/or analyzing new videos, please let me know.  I'm in New York City, so if you can't get to NYC you could still help with planning or analysis.

    Regards,

    Scott

WOW those videos are awesome and your explanations are great . I would be interested in your project and would like to see some videos of the high performance parts by WN&G, closeups of the letoff and drop , bass string movement, different hammer felts contacting the strings, hard and soft hammer string contact, sound board movement in various pianos. Also would be interesting to see the difference between a well regulated action and one that is way out of regulation.

Dampers in high and low speed video would be a great video as well as a video of a concert pianist showing the interaction between the hands, keys and action parts

Video showing old tubby dull bass strings versus new bass strings

Thanks, James!  Great ideas.  I'm working on a letoff and drop video now.  I'll keep the other things you listed in mind for future videos.
