Hi folks, does anyone have experience installing the let off buttons on the action rail of an old grand?  These are the kind that are pressed into the rail, the metal core doesn't turn. Just the dowel. Like the old uprights capstans.

I don't know about this piano but on many grands the threaded metal wire rods are set into rails of their own which are screwed onto the bottom of the hammer rail. They are in sections between the action brackets. They can be removed making it much easier to work on the let-off buttons. (also makes it a lot easier to regulate the jacks while these rails are out of the action.)
