Trying to get an idea of when Kimball made the small LaPetite Grand. I inspected one today that was not all that bad except for some plain steel strings in the middle that rusted out at the hitch pins. Excess moisture from the humidity on the hitch pin felt and bushing. I have seen this damage before on a grand that was overlooking a river in a house where doors and windows were left open and the ac was off. I could not find a serial number=perhaps there is one under the cheek blocks , top of lyre, on the keyslip ?

The SN should be on a small plaque located on the back side (soundboard side) of the belly rail up towards the treble end.

The reason I know this is part of a long story ....

I'll hazard a guess at later 1970s - very early 1980s. I'll bet Jim Geiger or Eric Johnson know the likely range.

    James,

I was working for a dealer in the mid-90's that sold them. But I don't remember how long they made them.
