I have to get the full background on it. It looked good with all of the pictures on the lid so maybe it can be a sidetable/desk/breakfast bar. The action was quite noisy between all of the slack in the keys.. probably worn back rail felt etc. Applying CA glue to the tuning pins may be an option as well as key rebushing.
I think a nice new or gently used Yamaha, Kawai, Steinway would be awesome in a home like this. I have to talk to the owners son about various options. Christmas is not that far away.....
I plan to upload some pictures of the action and the stringing arrangement. It is always good to get feedback about some of these uncommon pianos.

I had a customer with a Murdoch (London), under 5 ft. It had belonged to his grandmother and because of sentiment had it moved from England to his home in the states. Built in the 1920s as I recall. All pins were extremely loose, non-modern action (I can't recall the particulars). Overall very unservicable and beyond any monetary value. It took a few years before I convinced him to replace it. Because of the sentimental value, he hired a furniture builder to make a coffee table from the lid and legs. There are many options for preserving sentimental value and we had chatted about several ideas.

Is anyone familiar with a small grand piano with the name MURDOCH on the fallboard with LONDON under the MURDOCH ? dEFINITELY under 5 foot however the sound filled the room and it sounded like a large piano. No agraffes at all , loose knocking keys, some tubby bass strings. I noted a few hammers not hitting the left string, two hammers in the top octave hitting the plate and some string. After I tuned it and checked octaves I was finding that the 4th and 5th octaves where going sharp. after 2 + passes in the middle I seemed to have tamed the little beast. A closer look revealed the tuning pins had been tapped so that all the coils where on the plate. The pins did not feel loose during the tuning but I suspect that as tension was added it was pulling up the bridges . I think they can get it through the planned Christmas party and after the wine flows it may not be a big deal. I think the best option is for the owner to invest in a 6 foot quality grand . All of the homes on the blvd are $2 million + easily owned by very successful people now retiring and building spectacular architect designed mansions.
I had the fall board off and noted that there is a vertical strip which looks like it has a drop screw horizontally in it . Havent seen this type action before although I took a picture. Next visit I can slide the action out.
