Does anyone know what the part is called that the sustain rod in a Disclavier pushes against? The same part that the pitman dowel would rest on.

The piano in question (Yamaha C3) was dropped during a move, and the Disclavier system is broken beyond repair. However, the actual piano itself seems to have survived fairly well, all things considered.  However, the piece that the sustain pedal pushes into was broken and lost. I'll need to order a replacement from Yamaha I imagine.

If anyone knows the name, and especially the part number, I would greatly appreciate it.

Not Disclavier! You need to make new trap work.

    Hi Larry,

Yes, you are correct. I know it’s not a Disclavier part, but it is the trapwork that goes with the Disclavier system. I want to know if this is something Yamaha sells, or if I’ll have to make it, which I’d rather not do….

Benjamin, try contacting Lafayette Nunely, Service Supervisor – Piano. lnunley@yamaha.com

The parts numbers have been changed and they haven't published the new ones so he will need to provide you with that. But first, you might track down some diagrams from the Yamaha site so you can describe what you need. And they always want to know which model the Disclavier is.

Disklavier's are born in the factory and do not require the amount of trapwork modifications I'm seeing in your pics. Add-on systems, like PianoDisk, at least the older ones, frequently require extensive trapwork modifications during installation. Usually the installer will just trash the leftover parts. But not always. I would recommend you try and find the tech that did this installation and see if they have the parts, or the skill, to restore this system back to functional.

The player system in the photo looks to be a a PianoDisc standard profile system. You would need to confirm with the type of control box(es) mounted underneath. The sustain trapwork lever is a u-shaped metal bar that mounts below the metal cover with a threaded rod thru the hole into the damper tray. Contact a PianoDisc installer to evaluate the damage and order parts to make repairs. The player system could still be functional.
