Hello,
I have a customer with a Samick grand whose slow close fallboard no longer closes slowly. The mechanism still puts up some resistance but it's just not enough any longer to keep the fallboard from slamming shut. Samick USA doesn't have replacements for these, and so far I've not gotten a response back from the factory manager they forwarded me to.
Does anybody know if these come apart? Can they be repacked to work again? (It does look like it might unscrew with a spanner bit, but I was reluctant to mess with it until I at least asked around to see if someone knew.) Anybody got spares for sale?
I'm aware of the inexpensive generic ones on Amazon, etc., that install on top of the cheek block. Also of the not-so-inexpensive ones available from QRS. I will discuss those with the customer if I can't find a suitable fix.
