I got a piece of stiff leather from a local shoe repair shop to put on the damper trap lever and I have another round leather disc to glue on another part .
When you say bushing cloth what are you referring to ? is it the bulk cloth that comes in sheets or can you use action center bushing cloth ? I may even try some soft buckskin. I am talking about the bushings that are in the pedal box and the ones that are at the top of the lyre

Hi, James,
Thanks.
While the exterior-facing bushings were probably originally bushing cloth, there may well be some leather and felt blocks inside the pedal box. Almost as much fun as rebuilding a box from a Chickering of the same period.
Also, because I'm pretty OCD about it, I'd check to see what else of the trapwork may need attention whilst under there having fun.
Kind regards.
Horace

The piano is a C. Bechstein built in 1877 in Berlin. It was rebuilt sometime in the early 2000's here in South Carolina. The pedal rods where a bit sloppy since the two bushings on the pedal box and the two at the lyre top where worn out

Hi, James,
What kind of piano? What age?
Different brands require different stuff.
Thanks.
Best.

Thanks Fred... I will try that out. I need to know what type of bushing cloth to use for the holes the pedal rods go through on the pedal box and the pedal rod holes at the top of the lyre. I have lots of action center cloth but maybe I need to cut something off a larger sheet. Anyone with a quick reply of what they use will bail me out of a jam. Lyre has to be back on the piano for use at 2 funerals on Saturday...

While clicking on the link isn't working directly, the link url is displayed. You can highlight it, copy it, and paste it into your browser, and that will send you to the linked issue.
I have submitted a help request to Airtable (which hosts the Journal database on which the search is based), and am told someone will contact me within a couple days.

Just FYI, Fred is looking into it -- he thinks something changed with Airtable, which is what is running the search for us.

Not sure if this is the right community but I am having problems doing an online journal search. I can't link to any of the journals that the search returns a result I keep getting a message about an Air Table
