Heads up ... a local church music got an email about a free Yamaha Grand that was in Arkansas. All he had to do is work with the donors moving company to have it shipped. All of the usual sob story elements like it belonged to my late husband etc .  It looks like the target audiences this time are church music directors and Music Ministers. My contact had the presence of mind to ask me if it was legit

I always find these pitiful attempts at scamming a fun way to mess with the scammer.  Initially I act like I'm really interested, get the sender to send me more emails usually involves pictures, etc.  The point here is to get them to waste their time only to come up empty when I tell them that I have a relative that lives in Arkansas (or wherever) that is willing to rent a truck and bring it to me as they are just getting ready to come and visit.  This usually results in an email which says that the original owner doesn't trust anybody to move this precious piano but this particular moving company.  I then reply that if they are trusting me to take good care of the piano once I get it why shouldn't they trust me to make sure it gets to me safely.  This will invariably end the correspondence thread.  I also haven't gotten one of these types of emails now for some time.

    hey Neil,

when it's that obvious that it's a scam, why waste any precious time and give them any validation?

If it gives you pleasure fooling with scammers then by all means, go for it.

Personally, i don't give scammers any validation and even the two seconds it takes me to open the email and hit the "delete" button, i consider to be a waste of my precious time.

    Cheers,

    Peter
