According to Pauello's typogram spreadsheet, the recommended speaking lengths for .775mm XM wire (12 1/2 standard gauge) ranges from 52 to 57mm. At 56mm, you are at 81.24% of breaking tension. Looks very workable.
With, Paulello M wire, which I understand to be comparable with what is routinely available from our usual suppliers, you would be at 98.74% of breaking tension.

I once worked for a store that had a piano like this. The top 3 or 4 strings could not be pulled to pitch without breaking. I tried several wire sources, and nothing I put on there would take the tension. I finally called the factory, and they admitted that some of their pianos had the bridges mounted that had speaking lengths that were too long. Yours may be one of these.

I checked out a 1953 S for someone today and C8 measured 56 mm. Seems a little on the long side to me. 12.5 wire gage. I thought they usually ran 48~53 mm.
