An interesting observation today; This video is of the shadow of strings being played. Notice that the initial vibration is much more obvious than the movement after the first second of vibration. After the string appears to have stopped the sound persists, suggesting that the string has begun vibrating in a plane that is less visible, IOW the initial vibration is perpendicular to the soundboard and visible due to the angle of the light, but it resolves into a circular motion that is less obvious.
The horrible condition of the soundboard and the fact that this piano is in full sunlight is not my fault as this is my first service call to this customer.
