Let me begin by saying that I do not believe my issues are with the program but rather most likely with my phone. I really like Tunelab for Android, and kudos to Robert Scott for taking good care of us all these years
The problems that I am having seem to be getting worse with time, so I am contemplating getting another smartphone. I have a 2 1/2 year old Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G, all paid for. I have been in a long time abusive relationship with Verizon Wireless, and I do not want to continue to be an enabler. I will be moving to another (less) abusive carrier in the near term, and am considering the purchase of a new phone because of my problems.
There are several issues which may be related to a single problem. The first thing that I notice occurs when I am taking inharmonicity readings. At a specified note, I tap on the ruler at the bottom of the screen, sound the note for the needed time, and then it jumps to the inharmonicity measurement results screen. You see the columns for 16 different partials and the corresponding offset and amplitude columns for their calculated values. These days in the low bass there may be only measurements for a couple of the 16 partials at times, more at other times, in what seems to be a randomized assortment. The first partial is never there in the lower notes, often readings are missing from there up in most of the lower partials. The problem of missing partial readings over time is creeping up through the bass into the tenor section, and seems to be steadily worsening.
Another issue is that the peaks that we see when we sound a note and are looking at the screen and the relationship of that peak to the red line are not always very high and, for some notes, is virtually invisible. Sounding the note louder does not affect the deficit. Sometimes there are sections of notes that have an almost invisible peak. At another time things will be back to normal.
Thirdly, at times the notes change randomly. Mostly I use auto up for note switching, so I am not changing notes manually. But I will notice that the note has switched to day C5 or such when it should have stepped up to C4 from B3 (as example). Or I am in the top octave and one note likes to jump all the way to C8
I don't think this is normal behavior, but I will ask others what they have seen in using the program. None of these problems seem related to the state of the battery charge. I do wonder if voltage instability may be at the root of the problem.
Thanks to anyone who has something to offer.
