    Greetings,
I have a customer who just purchased a 1986 Yamaha WX7. Excellent piano, beautiful shape. She got a real bargain. Agraffes, great tone, easy to tune, barely a scratch on it.

However, she had one complaint: the right pedal is harder than normal to activate. Granted, she's a beginner and will probably get used to it, but I think a weaker spring would help. I don't have a photo, but these springs are 7/8" wide and about an inch high. Does anyone know if current Yamaha vertical pedal springs are the same dimension and less stiff? I'll try the hardware store, but that could be hit-or-miss.

    Thanks!

I wouldn't bother with your local hardware, unless you know they have a wide variety. You can get precisely what you need on line, Compression SpringThe Spring Store or Lee Spring for instance.

I’ve had success in weakening springs in a reversible way by using three zip ties spaced equally to collapse a few central coils.
