Zeno,
The Cory products work very well. I am doing my second smoke-damaged action now. Here's how I used the Cory products.
1. "Dry" chemical sponge-- First wipe down the parts dry to remove smoke residue. For cigarettes there probably is not much need for this sponge, though.
2. Negate Odor Remover-- Next mix with 3 to 1 with water and use it to wipe down the bulk of the piano.
3. Pre-Treated Smoke Odor Towelettes-- Now use these small wipes that are impregnated with a product that encapsulates the odor at the source. Use them to wipe in all the small spaces and crevices you can physically reach.
4. Smoke Odor Eliminator or Destroyer for Fire Odor Termination-- Both products work well. After using the wipes, spray one of these two products all over the piano where it is hard to reach (e.g. action parts).
5. Thermal Fog-- You can build a temporary fogging tent and fog the action. Leave it overnight. The small atomized particles will settle in areas your wipes and sprays couldn't reach.
The Cory website also has some great videos that show Dave Swartz cleaning up pianos in real time, explaining what he is doing along the way. They are worth watching.
Good luck,
John Parham

Cory Fire-Clean Tobacco Odor Eliminator. Depending on how thorough you wish to address your cleaning procedure, we have a couple other products that will aid in that regard. Should you want, you may call me at our facility tomorrow.

Hi Gang,
Any advice on a good product/procedure for getting rid of cigarette smell? Grand piano, was in a smoker's house, doesn't smell too good.
Thanks in advance!
