Hey there Wim... I like your spirit !! :) And whomever piannaman at
aol.com is came up with a good third day. We can create quite a wreck
before Christmas...:) Duanes idea about a Journal contest is also a good
idea... we can do both really.. but somebody has to get our Editor
    onboard on this.

So... we have so far: I changed my initial line to fit the melodi better.

On the 3rd day of December, a piano came to me,
    With three elbows broken,
    two hammers missing,
and a cracked plate and several stuck keys.

    Cheers

I told you it could get ugly... So here are some ideas to throw around...
    Twelve dampers damping
    Eleven players playing
    Ten levers leaping
    Nine clients dancing
    Eight Steinway monkeys
    Seven sostenutoes
Six plectras plucking (not a piano and maybe not a good image either)
    Five Steinway D?s

Funny, I don't see my suggestions.? (I am a tuner too).? 2 keys missing hammers,?6 (make it 5 or any number) coats of paint (the piano was painted shut, and the maid had to pry off the paint with a screwdriver to get it open for tuning).? Yesterday I sent in these two.? Thanks, or?Mahalo, as we say here in Hawaii.?

pins. Someone has to figure out how to work the word Verdigri into the
    song :)

Well, if you really want "Vertigri" and people are interested in staying as close to the original rhythm and rhyme scheme as possible, how about (for day one):

...and a New York grand with Verdigri.

    Hi Wim

Trying to take a bit from everyone here... rephrasing a bit of both my
own and others to try and match the rhythm of the song as best as
possible... grin... tough task at best. Thought today numbers should
match things in the piano as best as possible and thought about redoing
day 3 to deal with pedals... we could easily re-use the broken elbows
to include something like 23 of them... probably a bit more
realistic.... View this as a collective work in progress. You came up
with coats of paints too.... that one sounds real good somewhere in the
    mix... perhaps 12 ??? grin..
