When a soundboard warps to the degree that strings are brushing against the board, something needs to be done. This solution raises a bridge, thereby raising the strings. It works quite well, the caveat being precise placement, and a spring that is well chosen for its strength (not too strong, not too weak - still springy but it does push the bridge up adequately), something that should be determined by experimentation.
