Thanks, John. I remember your elegant solution. This is just a temporary thing, and the harpsichord isn't moved far--six feet or so? Ed's got me worried, though. Perhaps I'll just put some blocks of wood under each leg while it sits there. I'd hate to hear something go kerplunk...

Very nice solution! I'll post my permanent solution for the university instruments if I can figure out the new uploading system!

Both parts of the dolly fit snugly on the base. I guess it would be tippy if they didn't fit tightly. Still, I'm careful when moving the instrument. I shot bolts through the dolly to strengthen it. I thought about dividing the wheels equally (front & back), but I was worried about the weight rating on the casters. The front is so much heavier than the back. But maybe I didn't need to worry about it.

Is this stable? It seems it would be tippy, or at least, twisty near the single wheel tail configuration.
