Materials from a class given at the 2006 convention in Rochester, dealing in detail with the process of voicing a harpsichord. It begins with laying a foundation so that plectra can be consistent in length: dealing with slop between jacks and their guides, repinning the nut as needed to get consistent string spacing. Other preparatory steps are described, including tongue spring strength. Cutting plectra to length, trimming the sides for consistent widths, the actual tapering of the bottom for voicing, dampers, staggering, and other aspects are described.
