This 1917 Ivers and Pond was rebuilt in the 70s-80s and has been moved a number of times. I wonder how this looked originally and if there is another wooden/leather piece that helped the rod fit snugly. Would you make a new piece from wood/leather/felt that will help the rod remain securely in place?
