Montal original patents, #3127 (1846) and #7070 (1848)

3127 mostly has his transposition design, whereby the action is lifted, the keyboard is shifted some number of semitones using a lever, then the action drops back down on the keys. 7070 has a number of things in it, including adjustable iron bars for the backs of pianos, sort of like the Mason and Hamlin spider in concept (except that it is intended to be adjusted to respond to changes), and a fair number of action designs, both grand and upright, with "double escapement" features, and with "rollers" at friction points.

Hi Fred,
Thank you for posting this information. I am looking for Henri Pape's patents on hammer coverings. Is it possible to have these translated to English on the site? Thanks.
