An old upright was treated with super thin CA glue using a thin extension tip, applying the CA at the pin/bushing 12 o'clock position while the piano was standing normally. Only a few pins were treated. The piano was then disassembled. The photo shows a slice of pinblock. The side with two holes exposed shows CA stains on the top of the block. The side with three holes exposed was not treated. In sunlight, the treated holes seem to be a little glossy compared to the non-treated holes, but the differences are very subtle, and somewhat inconclusive. The torque differences were very clear, however, with the treated pins much tighter.
