Pin block separation

04-27-2020 13:11

I have a Kimball upright I am wanting to rebuild. It is from the early 1900s as near as I can tell. While disassembling the case I discovered the pin block had been separating from the back (the plate does not cover the pin block). It has been repaired, with six bolts being installed across the block. What I am wondering is will this repair hold well enough for the piano to be sellable after the rebuild? Should I pull the crack closed when I take the strings off for restringing?
Thank you
