Trimming grand shanks after hanging hammers

05-31-2013 11:24

A simple jig, made of a 2x6 scrap with a slot a bit wider than a hammer sawed in it, and sandpaper glued to the bottom. Each hammer is lowered into the slot, secured with a wedge, then the jig and hammer are held securely by one hand while the other saws the excess shank.
