I have a client that is planning on shipping a very old (her words) Lauberger & Gloss piano from her family home in Germany to the U.S. It's the first time I've heard of this brand. She says it's called a concert upright and is made completely of metal. I'm doubtful it's either of those qualities and from the small amount of information from a brief internet search it looks to be a adquate instrument. Her plans are to have it completely restored. I have never heard of this maker and I'm seeing if there are any opinions or comments that anyone may have about the quality of these instruments. Her Mom is sending some pictures so I will be able to surmize the extent of repairs as I will be the one doing the work. Anybody ever work with these before? Thanks

    Hi David,

The name is shown in the Atlas der Pianonummern as being in business from 1881 til 1960.  Other than that I can find nothing you haven't already found.

If the piano has IVORY keycovers, you have THAT to consider.
If the keys will be recovered, it may be simplest to have old ivory removed before shipping.
