  • 1.  Yamaha U3 bass string specs

    I am about to receive a Yamaha U3 that needs a new set of bass strings.  I can measure the old damaged ones for duplication, but if possible it would be best if anyone could provide me with the manufacturer's specs.

    Visit websites of J.D. Grandt and Arledge Strings. Ask opinions of top end rebuilders. Fine bass strings can make a big difference in the piano. It's worth the trouble of measuring and making a pattern rather than using a generic set which may not be optimal.

    Gregor Heller at Hellerbass in Germany is a good bet. As it happens, I recently ordered a set for a Yamaha U3 from him. 

    You measure the A and B distances in that particular piano (as described in the link.) No need for supplying diameters for known brands/models.
