Here is YC's white paper on the subject. They say early to mid 90's.
Btw, I did some regulation on a Weber, 1987 today. The client had a hard time finding someone because everyone she talked to said "action brackets" it's going to be expensive or just throw it away. Pre 90's YC used a sand cast iron bracket orangy-gold in color. If unsure, test with a magnet. I had no problems the piano just need some regulation due to it being 33 years old.
Moral of the story is don't assume that a decades old YC needs brackets just because it can use some regulation. The last one previous to this one had had the brackets replaced but poorly with minimal regulation, it was barely playable. It wasn't the brackets at this point, it was poor workmanship on the part of the tech.

Add PianoDisc to the list. They where made by YC. The majority of the problems are on the YC grands in the early to mid 90's. There are various signs the brackets are expanded or expanding such as blocking hammers, difficulty regulating the action, stuck keys. The bad brackets are a silver/gray/pewter shade and may or may not have visible cracks.

Do we have a list of Young Chang piano brands that are affected by the expanding brackets? And what years was this an issue?
