1973 Kimball console. Good condition but with several bichord dampers somehow skewed off to the side so that they don't settle between the strings. The piano hasn't been played much at all so I'm guessing these have been this way for a very long time. Today's question, is it possible to re-train these dampers, that are otherwise still in good condition, to once again sit squarely between the strings? If yes, what would you recommend? The dampers are attached to the damper heads with a small piece of back felt, and it's that small piece of back felt, not the damper head itself, that is now skewed. I'm thinking perhaps a tiny drop of moisture on that little piece of back felt, place the dampers back into proper position, and let dry. Yes? No? Maybe?
