Did anyone here attend Bruce Clark's class called "Introducing a Better Scale Program" at convention? I wanted to go to that class but was not able. If anyone has information or notes on the class/program etc.,I would be very interested. Thanks!

I did not attend the convention but I would also be interested to hear more. I did learn that is is not quite ready for release to Technicians as program tweaks are still in progress. I know that Bruce has been working on his string scale program since around 1990, the year I released Pscale. Bruce has been using his program "in house", I think starting with Falcone. We have talked many times over the years about the challenges of computer programming and on this subject in particular.

It was an interesting class, even for someone like me who doesn't do rebuilding. Bruce hopes to have it available in a few months, but no promises! It's quite a theoretical playground - would you like to see what windings of gold or uranium might achieve?

One slight disappoint is he doesn't have all the data (breaking points etc.) he'd like for Paulello wire, but he expects when he gets around to asking Paulello for the information he can compile the appropriate "library" that will allow the program to crunch out a new Paulello scale in milliseconds.

That would be incredible if his program incorporates data for Paulello wire! I used Paulello type 0 wire in my low tenor, and it transformed the instrument. When ready, how/where can I get the program?

Why ask and wait for that information? Its a simple matter of breaking the wire on a jig. One problem with introducing something like that to the market is that its a small market for that kind of thing these days, as its either free online or its very easy to make your own with programs like excel.

Ahh, gold and uranium windings don't work very well. They skyrocket Break % and Tension. Bronze, however, is nice to know. Slightly lower than copper but higher than iron. I'd have to study it a bit but gold windings might allow for a much shorter piano with a lot more bass strings.

    我也在关注,希望他早点出教程和软件。

    有一个古老的软件:Turbo-Mensuration

A couple of piano factories used this program, but don't use it anymore

Some piano tuning lawyers with a relatively long working experience said that he used this software very well, but this software is too old and runs on a dos system. I don't know who still has it. Want to buy and try.
I purchased this but I don't think it's all that convenient, either.     http://www.affleckpianotuning.com/scale_d.html
In addition, there are other people's calculation tables or software
from the Netherlands   If I remember correctly the quoted price of 800 euros is too expensive in my opinion

The software mensurix 5 came from Germany. The original author of this software passed away unexpectedly, but it is still sold. His son took over his tuning software, but his son is not in the industry. It is not clear whether he will inherit his father's business go down. Some piano manufacturers use this software to make pianos
scale ripper     Because there is no manual, I am not very good at operating it. I hope someone who used it when it was developed in the past can explain it to me.

I was in that class too. I've known Bruce for a long time and he's as OCD on this stuff as anyone can be. He has incorporated every possible parameter you can think of and about 50% more that you never knew existed.  😉

It will undoubtedly will be an outstanding tool for scale design. Mostly the class had to do with telling us all that it CAN do and how fast it can be done. This was his first time giving the presentation so he wasn't sure how or where it was going to go.

I kind of liken it to using Finale music notation software. It will do anything and everything you want, but the learning curve is on the steep side. Once he gets all the Paulello data in there (he wants more than just breaking %) then I'm sure it will be a formidable piece of software (Windows only BTW).
