New carpet was put in the music building and the contractors rolled two pianos through the carpet glue. One set is the rubber casters that were just put on earlier this summer.  The other is the dolly casters. Is it possible to clean them or would it be better to just replace?

You can't make this up, right?  I don't know much about rubber, but I'd be reluctant to use solvent.  You never know if the rubber might absorb something and degrade.  I'd use a knife or scraper, especially on those big wheels.  Probably easier to remove them and do it on a bench or in a vise.

The carpet installers will know what solvent can remove the glue, and they will have some.

It seems to me this is the responsibility of the carpet installers, either to clean or replace the casters.

In both instances, the wheels can be removed without removing the casters. It might be more economical just to replace the double rubber wheels. I'd try scraping and some solvent on the bigger wheel, it doesn't look that bad.

You may want to upgrade to the extra heavy duty double rubber wheel Darnell casters. The wheels have ball bearing axles as well as the swivel ball bearings.
