Four brackets, two middle ones shorter. Weber grand 1995 ~. Brackets screwed right in with no modification.
It's getting better. I will of course set final letoff and drop in the piano. A couple of makeshift tools are helping at the moment. I assumed no one had messed with this before but could be very wrong. I'll let you know how it went after I get it back in the piano.

Forget setting letoff on the bench. You set it in the piano. You may be having issues with the new brackets .
How many brackets do you have and what model piano ? Did you need to drill holes or shim the action brackets on the ends ?

I thought of that...
So obviously the only SURE way is back in the piano. Let off was at about 1/2" upon assembly therefore no matter what spec I had I haveca long way to go.

Are you sure the string height is right?

Wim,
Yes, that's exactly how I did it. Then checked the spread and it was right on the money.
Action is still on the bench so I'm trying to get things reasonable before taking it back to the piano. Using string height measurements I took. Everything else seems to check out. Curious

Obvious question, did you check the action spread? However, when I've replaced the brackets, I "cheat". Instead of measuring the action spread, when I tighten down the wippen rail I line up the jack and the knuckle on note one and note 88 and then tighten down the rail on the two outside brackets. Then tighten the middle two, making sure the jacks are lined up there, too.

Oddly enough, I'm having some difficulty in my rough bench regulation getting the letoff close enough as the regulating buttons need to be so high that the internal threaded rod interferes with my tool (won't go all the way through making life difficult). Anyone else had a similar issue with this?
Edit: This is a 1995 action, therefore has 113.5mm action spread.

Thank you! Found enough info to do it (not difficult). Now have to regulate, etc.

Does anyone have quick access to the step by step instructions for this job they can post? I know it's in here somewhere but I don't know how to find them.
TIA
