    Hello,

    I have a potential job on the horizon with a client who wants new genuine Steinway hammers replaced on her model S. I know Steinway hammers are generally lacquered to bring up the tone. Can anyone provide some details or reading material what this procedure (lacquer dilution, type, hammer location, etc.) entails so that I can match as closely as possible the "Steinway tone"?

    Get a  copy of the Worldwide Steinway Technical Reference. Covers voicing of NY and Hamburg (Renner) hammers as well as many other topics.
