    Hi, All!
I'll be looking at a 100-ish-year-old Hamilton baby grand next week, and the customer says the pedals used to work but now they don't. The piano apparently hasn't been played in the last 10 years or so since the last technician tuned it, and they seemed to work then. I don't have any other information than that right now. Do any of you have any troubleshooting thoughts that may be helpful? Thank you!

My knee jerk guess is that the lyre screws are stripped out, or one or more lyre joints is failing.

I suspect that the posts of the lyre have come loose from either the pedal box or the lyre base.

To do it right, you would need to take the posts off all the way, put glue in the hole, and then clamp the parts together.
