All – you might enjoy listening to a few minutes of Dr. Joseph Yungen playing in Young's Temperament, a Well Temperament. Links are given below. Feedback here would be appreciated. In particular, please consider a VOTE on which piano you think has been tuned to the Well temperament – the model D or the B. It is the closest that I have come to having a blind test of Well versus ET – let us know if you know of a better one.

If you have already been exposed to these recordings by Dr. Yungen and have the answer to which piano is tuned in Well versus ET, please do not post the answer. Let's wait a couple days before we post it. Meanwhile, everyone please vote! Thanks in advance. Regards, Norman.

    Dear Norman

In my opinion in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4XPD4aF6_U the instrument on the right sounds like a musical instrument and rich whilst the instrument on the left sounds as good as any you'll hear in a hotel foyer. When I tune the effect is even more.

    Best wishes

    David P

David, you aced it. Very good. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for me or for a friend that I had watch the video. I'll give my lame excuse as being used to hearing ET and not being used to the music coloring of a Well Temperament. But I think I now listen to it with a different perspective.

From Dr. Yungen: "The piano on the right is tuned to Young's 1st Temperament, while the piano on the left was tuned to Equal Temperament." So the Model D is tuned in a Well Temperament.

I thought it was fascinating to hear him play the two pianos, including at times playing them simultaneously. Regards, Norman.
