My friend who is the local Kawai dealer believes it is a 52" upright built like a tank however not sold in the US originally, He said it probably sounds great and most likely built in the 1980's

I am on this list, Mr. Kelley! :-)
But sorry, I am not at all familiar with this model. I don't know that I've ever seen one.
I looked in Kawai the scale chart listings I have, and it is not the same as the US-6X / US8x models. But that doesn't tell me much - it is the same as a number of other scales from the 70s and 80s. US50, US55, US60, US70, US75, KS-5F, KL-70 are all listed as having the same string scale. You know Kawai - they change the cabinet or action (or whatever) slightly and give the piano a new model designation. Especially in upright pianos.

I see Merriam Music here in Canada has one listed for sale, manufactured in the 1980s. It looks to me, from the photo, to be very much like a Kawai US-6x that I used to tune. Full sized, at least as tall as the U3

I have a client I'm working with that is looking for a used piano. I inspected a 1972 U3 that was in decent shape but this morning she inquired about a 1989 Kawai KL70.. after spending some time on line, I can't really find any info on this model and am hoping someone here can enlighten me. Welcome to all comments, thanks in advance.
