For further clarification, yes the now-
standard 88 keys encompasses 7 octaves, PLUS 1/4 octave (3 additional keys), so a total of 7 1/4 octaves. In an 85-note piano, whether A0-A7, or imagine C1-C8, the highest key just completes the 7th octave. If you want to say "the highest note starts the 8th octave, ok, but since there isn't an 8th complete octave, I think 7 1/4 is clearer. Bösendorfer extended keyboards are outliers, far from standard, so for another conversation. Hth.

Keep in mind that the standard piano only has 7 full octaves. This one is only missing the top three keys which used to be the standard for many pianos. Good luck!

Thanks for this info Laura. The seller can't find any other info on the piano other than the place of manufacture. Looking closer at the photos I realized that the piano only has 7 octaves on it, rather than the standard eight. Does your customer's piano have 7 or 8 octaves on it?
Thanks!
