Chris,
I just saw your screwstringer demonstration on YouTube recently! Is it alright if I reach out you with some questions?

Mason,
Tune it without apprehension. You can lubricate the tops of the tuning nuts with a drop or three of Protek or penetrating oil to counteract any corrosion that may have developed. I have plenty of stringing hooks and nuts on hand if you break any.
Contact me privately if you need any help or advice.

Subject: M & H Screwstringer Questions
Howdy y'all. I'm a bit new to the platform so forgive my inexperience. I'm a student tech at a college who's learning how to be a technician in a pseudo apprenticeship. I bought a Screwstringer about two years ago for $200 out of the sheer curiosity of it and did some minor action work to it with some help from an experienced technician. I recently started working on tuning it as it's sat for about eight years without being tuned and I myself didn't want to do it when I was in the early stages learning. I started tuning the bass and tenor areas but stopped because I had read that the combs were super fragile. My main concern is breaking one of those, one of the machines,or snapping a string so any tips would be appreciated! I love M & H pianos and have a slight fascination with them… particularly the AMPICOs. Thanks y'all for the help!
