Hello, I'll be likely restringing a 1972 Baldwin L with a particularly bad V bar around the 5th octave. Any suggestions (tools, tips, etc.) on doing this with the plate in the piano?

I would take a 1x1x4  inch piece of maple. Use a router to create a profile to match your preferred profile. Start with 180 grit and move to 600 grit. Remove as little as possible. Finish with emery polishing cloth..Good luck.

Tim, look in the forum archives, there have been some excellent discussions from a few years ago.
